COVENANT

A document which describes how we intend to conduct ourselves before the world.

COVENANT

Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ into our lives as our Savior, and on the profession of our faith, and having been baptized by immersion, we do now, in the presence of God and this assembly, and without reservation, hereby solemnly and joyfully covenant with one another as one body in Christ as follows:

By the aid of the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge and in holiness; to promote its spiritual health; to sustain its worship, its ordinances, its discipline, and its doctrines; to enthusiastically support the spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ to all nations and peoples;

We commit to maintain family and personal devotions; to train our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk carefully in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our commitments, and exemplary in our conduct; to abstain from anything that might have the appearance of evil or cause a brother to stumble; and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Lord;

We further commit to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian understanding in feeling and in courtesy of speech; and to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation.
